Hoghton Tower Preston
Why not combine a visit to Oswaldtwistle Mills – with a trip to Hoghton Tower, near Preston. The 16th century fortified manor house is famous for the knighting of a loin of beef by King James 1 – to become Sirloin of beef.
This beautifully preserved Elizabethan house is situated in a commanding position on the top of a hill between Blackburn and Preston, near the village of Hoghton. The price includes a one hour guided tour of the property and grounds.
Hoghton Tower is an Elizabethan building, best suited for able bodied persons, due to the many steps, and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
