A Cumberland Sausage was the star of the North West BPEX Pork Product Excellence Awards, clinching the Overall Champion title for Ye Old Sausage Shop.
The Oswaldtwistle-based business, run by Martin Teese and David Paintin, was awarded the top accolade at the BPEX Roadshow in Bolton after topping the Speciality Pork Sausage category. In an added bonus, Martin’s cousin and full time staff member Jessica Leliuga was crowned Champion ‘Young Sausage Maker’ for the North West, for the second year running.

The UK’s leading specialist aquatic retailer, Maidenhead Aquatics is set to open a brand new store at Lancashire tourist attraction Oswaldtwistle Mills.
Work to build the new 3,000 sq ft store commences at the end of March, with Oswaldtwistle Mills investing £100,000 in the construction and Maidenhead Aquatics earmarking £150,000 for the fit out. The store is scheduled to open at the end of the summer and will employ up to six people.
Oswaldtwistle Mills are celebrating picking up a prestigious industry award at the Group Travel Awards held in central London last week. A team of budding young entrepreneurs have kickstarted a new business and are now opening a concession stand in Oswaldtwistle Mills, before they have even left high school.
Inkthreadable creates personalised products using printing and embroidery machines. Darweners Alexander and Aaron Cunliffe, who are aged 15 and twins, launched the business along with Alexander’s girlfriend Amy Dunn.
