Survival rates from out of hospital cardiac arrest remains stubbornly low in the UK, with fewer than one in ten people surviving. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) estimate that up to 5,000 more lives could be saved every year if CPR was taught more widely. In fact, when someone suffers a cardiac arrest, their chance of survival can double if a bystander immediately performs CPR.
